    LEGAL HOUR - UPDATED
    10:15 AM - 11:15 AM

Topic: Sex, Drugs, Murder and HR

Most of us in HR get that “deer in the headlights” look when we unexpectedly observe sex or violence in the workplace.  The presentation seeks to provide HR professionals with some toolkits they can fall back on when these situations occur. This presentation also seeks to prepare “after action reports” so that these situations can be avoided in the future.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Attendees will learn to recognize policy and law violations in the workplace
    • Attendees will learn skills to apply when sex or violence occur in the workplace
    • Attendees will learn how to adopt policies and practices to avoid future occurrences

    LUNCHEON
    11:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Topic: Broadening Security Concerns in Today's Workplace

What constitutes secure workplaces for those inside an office is vastly different than for those who work in the field. Also, not every data breach involves hacking computers, some just require hacking or compromising employees. And finally, consider the reputational damage that can impact your company when an employee exhibits behaviors or actions online or caught on camera that go viral. The common denominator in all three areas of risk are the same -- people -- the same people you manage every day.

This presentation addresses these three areas of physical, data and reputational risks looking at the dynamics in play, strategies to avoid controversy or liability, and the suggested documentation process involved to avoid potential claims of negligence, whether in court or in the court of public opinion.

Explaining Reasonable Accommodations under the ADA in One Hour

It is possible.  We all know that reasonable accommodations under the ADA can feel complex and complicated.  Sometimes training on this extremely important topic raises more questions than it answers.  Surely, there must be a way to simplify the interactive process and make it easier to navigate.  In this session we will discuss how the ADA works.  We will break down the law in easy-to-follow concepts.  And you will hear simple rules and practical tips that will keep you from getting lost in the trees, explaining everything from coverage to leave.  The ADA is a big law but doesn’t have to be complicated or stressy.  This one-hour session will give you the tools you need.

                Learning Objectives:

                • Understand how the interactive process under the ADA is constructed legally
                • Identify practical approaches in navigating the ADA interactive process
                • Understand how the ADA interprets leave as an accommodation
